Fashion Tips For Men

FASHION BASICS

Suit
The suit stands for power, confidence and authority. This is the reason it has been at the top of the men's clothing food chain for nearly a century. Unfortunately, million of men are making the mistake of thinking any suit will do. They are wearing boring, bland and baggy suits, instead of one's that are eye-catching, professional, and perfectly-fitted.

The key to a great looking suit is fit, followed by color and fabric. It doesn't matter how expensive your suit is - if it doesn't flatter your frame. Your suit should be neither too loose nor too tight, gently hug against the body, and not restrict you in any way. If it doesn't do all three, return it to the rack and find another that does.

Whether the suit is single-breasted or double-breasted, two-button or three button, sized short, regular or tall, don't be surprised if you need to get it tailored. Less than five per cent of men find a suit that fits them perfectly off the rack. So make sure you get it professionally tailored. The extra money is worth it because the suit will fit perfectly.

Black, navy and grey are the most popular suit color choices for good reason - they are the most versatile. These colors allow you to wear a wider range of colored shirts and ties with each. The more versatile your suit colors, the fewer suits, shirts and ties you will have to own. This leaves you a little richer, while still looking great.

If solid colors are not to your liking, one can venture into popular pinstripe patterns. Pinstripes have proven popular because they can give men the appearance of being thinner and taller. Just be wary of thick pinstripes or anything too flashy. Any suit can be brought to life with a colorful dress shirt and tie.

Lastly, most suits are wool because it is the most versatile, comfortable, wrinkle-resistance, and long lasting fabric. Wool is also great at absorbing moisture on hot days and under pressure situations. If you're looking for fabric alternatives to wool, cotton, linen and flannel suits are easily found and offer a unique look and appeal.

Business: Own three amazing, but versatile suits. Mix them with a series of colorful shirts and people won't even notice they're the same suit. Choose wool suits in black, navy and dark grey for greatest versatility.

Casual: Own at least one suit and blazer. Pick a suit color that looks great on you and a black blazer. Toss the blazer over a t-shirt and jeans to instantly look more professional. If the look is good enough for fashion icon Tom Ford, it's good enough for you.

Shirts
Over the last decade, men have become braver and more fashion savvy when it comes to shirts. Gone are the days where a men's closet included only white or blue. Modern men have embraced bold colors in hundreds of different shades and patterns. A shirt must now be able to not only stand on its own but breathe some life into your suit.

A great shirt must fit and be visually appealing. This means picking form-fitting shirts that comfortably hug your frame. Never should your shirt be boxy, shapeless, skin-tight or too short. It should fit snug on your chest, but not pull the fabric between the buttons. It should keep its shape, but allow you to move easily. It should flatter your frame.

One of the easiest ways to stand out in today's mob of mediocrity is by choosing a shirt with bold colors. Bold colors create the perception of confidence, independence and unpredictability. All are traits women wind attractive. This is especially true when a man is willing to wear traditionally non-masculine colors like pink and purple.

A man who is bold enough to wear these colors is seen as a 'man's man' because it takes confidence in one's manhood to challenge the traditional male status quo. Doing so immediately creates some intrigue. Women can't help but wonder, "Who's the guy in the pink shirt?" So pick colors that stand out and make everyone else look like a bore.

Pattered shirts such as vertical, horizontal and diagonal stripes, checks, and floral prints also continue to increase in popularity. These shirts can bring a touch of excitement to old classics. A white shirt with purple stripes, a checkered pink shirt or a black floral pattern on a red shirt can quickly re-energize any man's wardrobe.

To make sure your shirt always looks good, be sure to tuck it in. Not doing so doesn't look cool and casual - it looks sloppy. Also be sure not to unbutton your shirt too far, wear denim shirts only while on the ranch and stay away from overpowering patterns. This will help ensure you always look like a fashionable gentleman.

Business: Own at least two solid white shirts, a blue shirt, a pink shirt, a green shirt and a red shirt in solids or patterns. Try to match up shirts with complementary ties for best effect. By rotating different suits, shirts and ties, your look should never get stale.

Casual: Even if you wear a uniform or rugged work clothes during the workweek, every man should own six dress shirts (color suggestions above). Women love a well-dressed man, so make sure you own dress shirts.

FASHION TIPS
How to pick the perfect suit

Make sure the suit fits you properly across the shoulders. It shouldn't be too tight or loose. You should be able to move freely and not be afraid that a quick move will tear it to pieces. Having the proper sleeve length is also vital. And remember you always want to show some cuff. Showing some shirt cuff will make the suit look more dynamic.
