The 'sense story' plays with their senses and imagination. If one reads, 'Life is meant to be lived... and I live it to its fullest. Whether it's swimming sandy shorelines with sea lions in the Galapagos, feeding acacia leaves to endangered giraffes in the Serengeti or slicing through knee-deep powder atop the snow-capped peaks of Whistler, I try to make the most out of every day,' it allows them to imagine what life alongside you must be like.
The 'yes' set is used to make it appear the two of you have immediate compatibility. For instance if one reads, 'Do you enjoy the wind ripping through your hair? Do you love to travel to far-away lands? Do you love to experience foreign cultures?' they will say 'yes, yes, yes' and start to imagine what life would be like beside you.
Body
After capturing the viewer's attention, it's time to tell them about you and a little bit about the type of person you're interested in. The paragraph (or two) on yourself should show a well-rounded individual. You risk being stereotyped otherwise. The paragraph on your perfect partner should include traits that most of the opposite sex have. The purpose of this paragraph is to show you are selective and have high standards, not to disqualify potential dates.
Use descriptions that tease the senses. Include visual, smell and touch. Provide a world rich in details. Let them share an experience in their imagination. Instead of saying 'I like the beach,' say 'I love jogging along the hot afternoon sand, listening to the surf break, the wind carrying the smell of suntan oil.' Basic is boring. Details are seductive.
Avoid being formal. Formal is forgettable. Fill your profile with words and thoughts that energize the reader. Also be sure to keep your profile positive. Let your words show the reader how much fun you are. Be a breath of fresh air in a stale online world.
Invitation
End your profile with an invitation. Tell the viewer how to reach you. If you're after winks, smiles, IMs or messages say exactly that. It's as simple as adding, 'If you're up for some adventure, send a smile my way.' A person will always be more likely to act, if you've given them an invitation.
Last minute checks
Take some time to examine what you've written. Make sure the entire profile is on-theme, written to a proper length and free of spelling errors. Only once that is complete should you start thinking about contacting other singles.
Theme
Make sure your entire profile has a constant theme. Avoid being a schizophrenic. If you want to be seen as adventurous, inject adventure into your name, first line, profile and photo.
Length
Keep the profile between four and seven paragraphs. Fight the urge to post a short introduction or an epic that runs on forever. Write short, snappy paragraphs.
Spelling
Spell well. Always run your profile and messages through spell-check. With all of today's technology at your fingertips, there is no excuse for simple spelling mistakes.
Creating a magical first message
Most of the time, you will be sending the first message. This will be their first impression of you. A magical first message must pique their interest, offer a challenge and separate you from all your online competitors.
There are six important steps to an effective first message: Unique opener, poke fun at their photo or profile, show you have desired traits, comment on something they said in their profile, ask questions that make them sell themselves to you, and tell them how to respond.
Example: Looking for adventure? Just looking for someone who can spell 'positave' (its positive)? I too have found travel is a great teacher. Tell me your favorite travel story and three traits that would make me want to know you better. Message me and we'll go from there.'
This message shows you've taken the time to read their profile and doesn't make you look desperate because you're asking them to sell themselves to you. The major failure of most first messages is they come across as needy or a faceless form letter. Send a message that stands out.

If your main theme is adventure, show it in every single part of your profile.

| Why women do better than men |
|
Women on average write better profiles than men, which leads to much higher success rates. In fact, for every 10 men who post a profile on a dating site, only three ever get a response. Too many men are posting a poorly written paragraph with unflattering photos and then sending messages to every attractive women they see. It's a recipe for online failure. - allstardatingtips.com |
